- ASPHALT & TAR
STAIN: Black, shiny, built-up or absorbed, distinctive odor
CONTAINS: Coal, tar or petroleum, sulfur compounds, moncaptans
1. Scrape off as much as possible with a spatula or dull knife.
2. Apply POWER SOLVENT or SOLVENT SPOTTER solution, blot.
3. Apply CITRUS GEL sparingly, blot or extract.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot or extract until dry.
- BLOOD
STAIN: Reddish when fresh, dries to dark brown with irregular edge
CONTAINS: Albumin, fat, fibrin, iron
1. Apply PROTEIN & STAIN SPOTTER OR PRO SPOTTER solution, blot.
2. Apply ZOOP! Enzyme Digester and deodorizer, allow 10-15 minutes dwell time, blot.
3. Allow to react 5 to 15 minutes.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water, blot until dry.
5. It may be necessary to apply a solution of 1oz of OXY PLUS per quart of water.
Note: Take safety precautions when cleaning blood spills to avoid possible infection or contamination. Do not use on Wool carpets or fabrics.
- BROWNING (CELLULOSIC BROWNING)
STAIN: Brown or yellow discoloration (often associated with over wetting).
CONTAINS: Lingin from jute backing (older carpet), as well as other dark soil materials which migrate to the top of the carpet.
1. Discuss problem with customer before taking action. Pre-test in an inconspicuous area for effect on carpet and removal of soil.
2. Apply (spray) YELLOW Rx (diluted properly for carpet or upholstery).
3. Agitate fibers with a pile brush, or bonnet or rotary machine for more severe discoloration
4. Allow 5 to 15 minutes dwell time, rinse with clear water or ALL FIBER RINSE.
5. Ensure good ventilation for proper drying of the carpet.
Note: Severe discolorations may require repeating this process or using stronger mixtures (ALWAYS PRETEST before using).
- CATSUP & TOMATO SAUCE
STAIN: Reddish-brown, absorbed and built-up
CONTAINS: Tomatoes, salt, sugar, spices, tannin, vinegar, onion
1. Apply PROTEIN STAIN SPOTTER or PRO SPOTTER solution, blot.
2. Apply ZOOP! Enzyme digester, allow 10-15 minutes moist dwell time, blot.
3. If stain remains, apply a solution of 1oz of OXY-PLUS per quart of water.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water, blot until dry.

- CHOCOLATE
STAIN: Brown with irregular edge, absorbed or built-up
CONTAINS: Oil, grease, cocoa, butter, coloring, sugar, milk

STAIN: Usually absorbed with an irregular edge, sticky when wet, stiff when dry
CONTAINS: Honey, sugar, syrup, menthol, alcohol, flavoring, coloring
1. Apply PRO SPOTTER.
2. Apply ALL FIBER RINSE solution, blot.
3. Apply ZOOP! Enzyme Digester, allow 10-15 minutes dwell time, blot.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
5. Certain colorings may be more difficult to remove than others-Consult FOOD COLORING procedures.

- CRAYONS
STAIN: Built-up, sometimes shiny
CONTAINS: Wax, grease, pigment, coloring matter
1. Scrape off as much as possible with a spatula or dull knife.
2. Freeze the crayon spot with an ice cube, then scrape to break up and remove in pieces.
3. Apply POWER SOLVENT, blot.
4. Apply CITRUS GEL solution, blot.
5. Rinse thoroughly with water and extract until dry.
- EGGS (RAW)
STAIN: White and/or yellow, built-up, coagulates with heat
CONTAINS: Albumin, oils, fats, coloring matter
1. Blot up as much as possible, as quickly as possible.
2. Apply PROTEIN STAIN SPOTTER solution, blot.
3. If stain remains, apply ZOOP! Enzyme Digester and keep moist. Allow 10-15 minutes dwell.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
Note: Do not use on Wool carpets or fabrics
- FOOD COLORING
STAIN: Absorbed, bright color, irregular edge
CONTAINS: Sugar, red or other dye flavoring
1. Apply PRO SPOTTER solution, blot frequently for initial cleaning then,
2. Apply RED RESCUE A & B (double blend mix) within the perimeter of the stain.
3. If needed, dampen a clean, white absorbent towel with water, place over spot.
4. Heat towel with household steam iron, remove after 15-30 seconds. Do not allow iron to contact carpet.
5. Check towel for color transfer, repeat if needed.
Note: It is preferred to remove small amounts of stain color in several succesive applications than to try to remove all the stain color in one heavy application
- FRUIT JUICE
STAIN: Light yellow or chracteristic color of fruit, absorbed and splotchy with irregular edge
CONTAINS: Tannin, acids, pulp, sugar, coloring matter
1. Apply PRO SPOTTER solution, do not blot.
2. Apply ZOOP ENZYME SPOTTER allow to dwell 10-15 minutes, blot.
3 Apply OXY-PLUS at 1oz OXY-PLUS per 1 quart of hot water.
4. If stain persists, use FOOD COLORING removal procedures.
5. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
- FURNITURE STAIN
STAIN: Brownish or reddish, absorbed, with irregular edge
CONTAINS: Petroleum distillate, coloring matter
1. Apply POWER SOLVENT combination solution, allow to dwell 10-15 minutes.
2. Apply CITRUS GEL solvent, blot.
3. Apply PROTEIN STAIN SPOTTER, blot.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
Note: This stain is almost impossible to remove completely.
- GLUE (SCHOOL)
(not for elmer's or rubber cement types)
STAIN: Stiff and shiny, usually built-up
CONTAINS: Starches, gelatins, albumins in a water base
1. Determine type of glue.
2. Apply PRO SPOTTER solution, blot.
3. Apply PROTEIN STAIN SPOTTER, blot.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
Note: May require hot water extraction for 100% removal.
- GRASS
STAIN: Green and/ or brown smudges
CONTAINS: Tannin, acids, oils, chlorophyll
1. Apply CITRUS GEL and extract with hot water
2. Apply ZOOP! Enzyme Digester, allow to dwell 10-15 minutes
3. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot or extract until dry.

- GRAVY
STAIN: Brownish, absorbed and built-up
CONTAINS: Meat extracts, starch, proteins, milk, flour, seasonings
1. Apply PROTEIN STAIN SPOTTER solution, blot.
2. Apply ALL FIBER RINSE solution, blot.
3. Apply PRO SPOTTER & ZOOP Enzyme Digester mixture, blot.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.

- GREASES & OIL
TAIN: Greyish or brownish, absorbed or built-up
CONTAINS: Oils, sometimes soils
1. Apply SOLVENT SPOTTER, or POWER SOLVENT, or CITRUS GEL, blot or extract.
2. May require repeat of step 1.
3. Rinse thoroughly with water and extract until dry.
- GUM (CHEWING)
STAIN: Greyish or pink, rubbery, sticky, built-up
CONTAINS: Chicle flavoring, sugar
1. Freeze chewing gum with ice, scrape off as much possible.
2. Apply CITRUS GEL, let stand for a few minutes.
3. Remove excess with a spatula by scraping at one point and rolling to release gum.
- ICE CREAM
STAIN: Absorbed and built-up, stiff when dry
CONTAINS: Cream, milk, egg, sugar, fruits, extracts, coloring matter
1. Apply PROTEIN & STAIN SPOTTER solution, blot.
2. Apply ALL FIBER RINSE solution, blot.
3. Apply ZOOP Enzyme Digester allow to dwell 10-15 minutes, blot.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot or extract until dry.
5. Apply POWER SOLVENT, extract.
Note: Do not use on Wool carpets or fabrics
- ICE MELT BUILDUP
STAIN: White residue on carpet; eventual permanent discoloration.
CONTAINS: Ice melter salts (sodium chloride, calcium chloride, or potassium chloride) tracked into commercial buildings during winter season.
1. Discuss problem with customer before taking action. Pre-test in an inconspicuous area to determine whether ice melter has permanently discolored carpet, and effectiveness of salt removal.
2. Rinse extract the area with an ALL FIBER RINSE solution, based on 8oz/gallon water.
3. Ensure adequate drying of carpet using forced air ventilation.
Note: Although ice melter salts dissolve in water, an ALL FIBER RINSE solution speeds their removal from carpet and more effectively remove salts embedded into the carpet. Walk-off mats are also recommended at entryways to reduce salt track-in.
- INK (BALL POINT)
STAIN: Can be any color, usually blue or black, absorbed
CONTAINS: Basic or soluble aniline dyes, insoluble organic solvents, oils, resins, gums, binding agents such as shellac, varnish or petroleum
1. Apply INK SPOT REMOVER, blot.
Note if dye is readily released. If so, this indicates a solvent soluble dye.
2. Repeat as needed. BLOT! do not rub, to avoid spreading spot.
3. If stain persists, apply CITRUS GEL.
4. Apply OXY-PLUS at 1oz per quart of water, if needed.
5. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
Note: All inks are not the same. Different approaches may have to be evaluated. Try GREASE procedure or INK(INDIA) procedure. Some inks may be permanent. On upholstery: place a white towel under fabrics if possible so that removal can occur in both directions. This also avoids spreading ink to padding or cushions under upholstery.
- INK (INDIA)
STAIN: Absorbed usually black
CONTAINS: Pigment(carbon black) dispersed in water with a binder
1. Apply INK SPOT REMOVER.
2. Apply POWER SOLVENT sparingly, blot.
3. Apply CITRUS GEL, blot.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
On upholstery: place a white towel under fabrics if possible so that removal can occur in both directions. This also avoids spreading ink to padding or cushions under upholstery.
- JAM & JELLY
STAIN: Reddish or bluish, absorbed and built up
CONTAINS: Pulp of fruit, sugar, tannin, preservatives, coloring
1. Apply PRO SPOTTER solution, blot.
2. Apply ALL FIBER RINSE, blot.
3. Rinse with water and blot.
4. Apply PROTEIN STAIN SPOTTER, blot.
5. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
- LIPSTICK
STAIN: Red, pink, orange, soft and greasy
CONTAINS: Pigment or dye in fats, waxes and oils
1. Scrape off excess with spatula or dull knife.
2. Apply POWER SOLVENT, agitate then extract.
3. Apply CITRUS GEL, blot or extract.
4. Apply OXY-PLUS at 1oz per quart of water, if needed. Allow to dwell for 10-15 minutes.
5. Apply ALL FIBER RINSE, blot.
6. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
- MARGARINE & BUTTER
STAIN: Greasy, yellowish-red, sometimes built-up
CONTAINS: Vegetable dye, corn oil, milk, salt, preservatives, vegetable fats
1. Apply CITRUS GEL, OR SOLVENT SPOTTER, OR PROTEIN STAIN SPOTTER solution, blot. Do not rub.
2. Apply PRO SPOTTER solution, blot until stain is removed.
3. Rinse thoroughly with water, blot until dry.
- MILDEW
STAIN: Greyish or brownish fungus with black spots
* May permanently damage fibers
1. Apply PRO SPOTTER, do not blot.
2. Apply ZOOP Enzyme Digester, allow to dwell 10-15 minutes.
3. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot.
4. Apply solution of OXY-PLUS at 1oz per 1 quart of water.
5. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
Note: Do not use on Wool carpets or fabrics.
- MILK
STAIN: Usually white, sometimes lighter in the center with heavier buildup around the edges
CONTAINS: Fats, albumins, water
1. Apply PROTEIN STAIN SPOTTER, blot.
2. Apply ALL FIBER RINSE solution 8oz/ gallon water, blot.
3. Rinse with water and blot unitl dry.
4. Apply ZOOP Enzyme Digester, allow to dwell 10-15 minutes.
5. Rinse with water and blot until dry.
6. Apply POWER SOLVENT, blot.
Note: Do not use on Wool carpets or fabrics.
- MUCILAGE (GLUE)
STAIN: Either built-up or slightly absorbed, stiff with an irregular edge when dry
CONTAINS: Albumins, animal proteins and gums
1. Apply PRO SPOTTER, do not blot.
2. Apply ZOOP Enzyme Digester, allow to dwell 10-15 minutes, blot.
3. Apply PROTEIN STAIN SPOTTER.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
Note: Do not use on Wool carpets or fabrics.
- MUD
STAIN: Greyish, brownish, reddish, or yellowish, absorbed and built-up
CONTAINS: Soil with greases and oils, clay, iron
1. Brush or scrape off as much as possible.
2. Apply PRO SPOTTER solution, blot.
3. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
4. If stain remains, apply CITRUS GEL, extract w/ watser or ALL FIBER RINSE, blot until dry.
Note: Some clay and mud stains may be difficult to remove completely.
- MUSTARD
STAIN: Yellowish, absorbed or built-up
CONTAINS: Mustard seed, vinegar, salt, tumeric, oils, spices, flavorings
1. Apply PROTEIN STAIN SPOTTER solution, blot.
2. Apply ALL FIBER RINSE solution, blot.
3. Apply PRO SPOTTER solution, do not blot.
4. Apply ZOOP Enzyme Digester, allow to dwell 10-15 minutes, blot.
5. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.

- NAIL POLISH
STAIN: Usually pink or red, stiff, shiny and built-up
CONTAINS: Red dye or pigment in a liquid cellulose acetate base, solvent, plasticizer
1. Apply POWER SOLVENT.
2. Apply CITRUS GEL, blot.
3. Apply ALL FIBER RINSE solution, blot.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and extract or blot until dry.
- OILS
STAIN: Circular, elongated or cross-shaped, darkening with age
CONTAINS: Petroleum distillate or vegetable oil, polyglycerides, methyl silicate, preservatives
1. Apply POWER SOLVENT, blot.
2. Apply CITRUS GEL, blot.
3. Apply PRO SPOTTER solution, blot.
4. Apply ALL FIBER RINSE solution, blot.
5. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
- PAINT (WATER, LATEX BASED)
STAIN: Absorbed or built-up, stiff when dry
CONTAINS: Water, latex, pigments, emulsifiers, preservatives
1. Break dried residue up to small sections, remove.
2. Apply PRO SPOTTER solution, blot. Repeat as needed.
3. Apply SOLVENT SPOTTER solution, blot.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
5. Apply CITRUS GEL on aged, hardened paint, blot. Agitate to break into dried film then,
6. Apply SOLVENT SPOTTER solution, blot. Repeat as needed. Rinse thoroughly and blot.
Note: Aged latex paint spots can be difficult to remove. Wet latex paint spills can be easily extracted with detergent and professional extraction equipment.
- PAINT (OIL)
STAIN: Usually built-up and stiff
CONTAINS: Pigments, drying oils, resins, gums, volatile solvents
NOTE: Check label on paint for specific thinner or solvent recommendation. Aged paint spots can be difficult to remove.
1. Apply POWER SOLVENT.
2. Apply CITRUS GEL, blot.
3. Repeat step 2 until as much paint as possible is removed.
4. Weight down the stain with towels for several hours to loosen.
5. Apply several drops of PRO SPOTTER solution, and work into the stain, blot.
4. Alternate steps 2 and 5 until stain is removed.
5. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry.
Caution: Extended use of solvents oncarpets can soften latex backing and loosen fibers.
- RUBBER CEMENT
STAIN: White or clear, built-up, possibly sticky or shiny
CONTAINS: Rubber (synthetic or natural), resin, solvent base
1. Roll the excessive glue off if it has hardened sufficiently.
2. Apply POWER SOLVENT.
3. Apply CITRUS GEL sparingly, blot.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and extract until dry.
- RUST
STAIN: Reddish brown, absorbed or built-up
CONTAINS: Oxides of iron
1. Apply PROCHEM RUST REMOVER and agitate with light brush.
2. Allow to dwell 5-15 minutes. May require longer dwell time.
3. Repeat.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and extract until dry.
Note: Avoid direct contact with skin or eyes, wear eye protection and gloves when using.
- SHOE POLISH
STAIN: Usually black or brown, absorbed or built-up
CONTAINS: Waxes, resins, solvents, dyes, shellac, alcohol, tannin
1. Apply POWER SOLVENT solution, blot.
2. Apply CITRUS GEL solution, blot or extract.
3. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot or extract until dry.
- SOFT DRINKS
STAIN: Colorless, yellowish, reddish, or brownish, darkening with age
CONTAINS: Tannin, sugar, vegetable coloring, flavoring, fruit extracts
1. Apply PRO SPOTTER solution, blot.
2. Apply ALL FIBER RINSE solution, blot.
3. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot or extract until dry.
4. If dye stain remains, try FOOD COLORING procedure.
- SOIL FILTRATION LINES
STAIN: Dark areas that develop gradually where airflow through carpet is concentrated along walls, under doors, and under floor length draperies.
CONTAINS: Airborne soil, oils and carbon.
1. Discuss problem with customer before taking action. Pre-test in an inconspicuous area for effect on carpet and removal of soil.
2. Apply OLEFIN PRE-CONDITIONER (mix 4 to 6 oz/gallon in hot water) using a pump-up sprayer or trigger sprayer. OXY-PLUS ( 1oz/gallon) can be added to this mixture.
3. Gently agitate fibers with a pile brush, or hand groomer.
4. Allow 5 to 15 minutes dwell time, rinse with clear water or ALL FIBER RINSE.
Note: OLEFIN PRE-CONDITIONER is designed for olefin carpets and can affect the stain resistance properties of nylon carpet. Check warranties and dates of purchase before using.
- SOOT
STAIN: Black spots or smudges
CONTAINS: Carbon, sulfur compounds, sometimes greases
1. Apply CITRUS GEL solution, blot or extract.
2. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot or extract until dry.
Note: OLEFIN PRECONDITIONER has been recognized as an excellent soot remover and should be tried in an extraction procedure if above spotting method fails. Use at 2-4oz/ gallon.
- TOOTHPASTE
STAIN: Whitish, greenish, or bluish (other colors possible), absorbed and built-up
CONTAINS: Soap, bleaching compound, flavoring, fluoride compound, coloring
1. Apply PRO SPOTTER solution, blot.
2. Apply ALL FIBER RINSE solution, blot or extract.
3. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot or extract until dry.
- TRAFFIC LANES
STAIN: Gray or soiled appearance in traffic lanes.
CONTAINS: Result of wear on carpet fibers from foot traffic and abrasive soil. Includes pile distortion, abraded face fibers, nap reversal, and fading. Appearance affected by lighting and soiling. Damage to carpet fibers is permanent - cleaning may improve appearance but will not correct fiber wear.
1. Discuss problem with customer before taking action. Approach is to clean thoroughly to remove soil and align the fibers for drying. Pre-test in an inconspicuous area for affect on carpet and removal of soil.
2. Spray ULTRAPAC TRAFFICLEAN or ULTRAPAC TRAFFICLEAN MINT FRESH or ULTRAPAC LVC. Allow 5 to 15 minutes dwell time; do not allow to dry.
3. For severe soil, agitate fibers with a pile brush, or bonnet or rotary machine for more severe discoloration
4. Two-step method: Rinse extract with ALL FIBER RINSE.
Three-step method: Rinse extract with DRY SLURRY or CLEAN GREEN, followed by spray rinse with ALL FIBER RINSE.
5. Groom carpet to align fibers, ensure good ventilation for proper drying.
- URINE
STAIN: Yellowish or brownish, darkening with age, absorbed
CONTAINS: Urea, uric acid, ammonia, organic acids, pigments, cholesterol, albumins, proteases
1. Blot up as much as possible if still wet.
2. Apply PET SPOTTER & DEODORIZER, blot.
3. Apply ALL FIBER RINSE solution, blot or extract.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot or extract until dry.
Note: Urine stains may cause permanent dye removal from fibers, and may damage wool, silk or nylon.
If discoloration persists, ALL FIBER RINSE may be used at stronger concentrations.
Up to full strength - with caution. Rinse thouroghly with water, blot or extract until dry.
- VOMIT
STAIN: Various colors, absorbed and built-up
CONTAINS: Food, mucus, albumins, acids
1. Blot up as much as possible.
2. Apply PRO SPOTTER solution, do not blot.
3. Apply ZOOP! Enzyme Digester solution, allow to dwell 10-15 minutes.
4. Apply ALL FIBER RINSE solution, blot or extract.
5. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot or extract until dry.
6. If stain persists, try FOOD COLORING procedure.
- WAX (CANDLE)
STAIN: Stiff and built-up
CONTAINS: Petroleum, animal fats and oils, vegetable fats and oils, basic dyes
1. Scrape off as much as possible with spatula or dull knife.
2. Freeze the wax with an ice cube, then scrape to break-up and remove in pieces.
3. Apply POWER SOLVENT or CITRUS GEL, blot. To remove excessive residue.
- WINE
STAIN: Reddish, purplish, or yellowish, absorbed
CONTAINS: Alcohol, sugar, tannin, coloring matter
1. Blot up as much as possible. Repeat as needed.
2. Apply PRO SPOTTER solution, blot.
3. Apply ALL FIBER RINSE solution, blot or extract.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water and blot or extract until dry.
5. If stain persists, try FOOD COLORING procedure.
- YELLOWING
STAIN: Yellow discoloration over area of carpet
CONTAINS: Variety of causes: general soiling, fume fading, atmospheric pollutants, stain-resist deterioration, BHT-Butylated Hydroxytoluene, oxidation, color(dye) loss, oil tracking, urine, asphalt track-off.
1. Discuss problem with customer before taking action. Pre-test in an inconspicuous area for affect on carpet and removal of soil.
